Lawyers are now also allowed to search through the cracked messages stored by the judicial authorities via their own computer. These are messages from the cracked servers of Ennetcom, PGP Safe and EncroChat. That reports the Parool.

Lawyers have been asking for this for a long time. For years, lawyers struggled in important criminal cases. The mutual messages are often the bottom of the evidence, but it was much more difficult for the counselors to gain insight into this than the investigative services.

They had to visit the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) in The Hague to search the crypto communication with the advanced digital search engine Hansken, accompanied by an employee of the NFI and someone from the Public Prosecution Service or the court, or they were given very extensive Excel – or pdf files.

Now it is finally possible to search the messages remotely and when it suits you. Currently, these are messages from the cracked servers of Ennetcom, PGP Safe and EncroChat.

In the future, the enormous amount of messages from SkyECC’s servers must be added. The lawyers only have access to the messages and are not allowed to print, download or photograph the messages. Lawyers cannot search all cracked messages on the servers, but only the datasets selected by the judiciary.
