The pre-trial detention of the Rotterdam lawyer who was arrested on April 21 has ended, according to a message from the court in Rotterdam. “The court judges that there is no longer any reason to keep her any longer.”

Weski, 68, was taken into custody on April 21. She has an office in Rotterdam. Her restrictions were already lifted on May 12.

She is suspected by the judiciary of participating in a criminal organization aimed at international drug trafficking and money laundering. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) also suspects her of passing on information from her client Ridouan Taghi from the Extra Secure Institution (EBI) in Vught to the outside world.

Since Weski’s arrest and suspension by the Bar Association, this suspect has been in the Marengo trial without counsel.

Weski’s lawyers Rob Baumgardt and Fébe Schoolderman confirm Thursday afternoon that ‘IN Weski has been released today’ by the court. They report in a press release that their client ‘has not made a statement because of her duty of confidentiality and that she will not do so’.

The counselors: ‘The impact of everything that has happened since April 21, 2023 is great. We urge everyone to respect her privacy.’

Weski’s lawyers say they will not answer questions regarding her release.
