Large fire in caravan storage Bleiswijk under control

A large fire broke out in a caravan shed in Bleiswijk around 7.30 pm. Firefighters have now brought the fire under control and will continue to douse it for several hours. According to mayor Pieter van de Stadt, there were more than three hundred caravans and campers in the garage. They are all destroyed.

Local residents received an NL-Alert earlier tonight with the advice to stay out of the smoke and to close windows and doors in case of nuisance.

The fire raged in the caravan storage on the Anjerweg. According to the security region, this is a large complex and emergency services are therefore present in large numbers. Because it was difficult to get enough fire extinguishing water, a large container was brought to the location.

The smoke was also clearly visible from the A12 between Gouda and The Hague. Rijkswaterstaat calls motorists to be extra vigilant.
