Kia EV9: just call it a statement

Will 2023 be Kia’s year again? After the car brand has managed to win just about all the prizes in recent years. And quite dominating the market with a number of models, another SUV that is striking in all respects enters the stage, called the Kia EV9 (pronounced ievie-nine following the ievie-six).

Kia EV9 is a statement

Kia calls the flagship EV9 and describes it as a groundbreaking electric SUV with a bold and elegant design. We have a short description for that. This EV9 is a statement, a statement to the market, to the brand and ultimately to the consumer. An unprecedented large SUV with 3 rows of seats. In old times we might call it an MPV. It is striking that the EV9 seems to differ almost nothing from the Kia Concept EV9 from November 2021. In technical terms, that means having guts and being convinced of yourself.

For this short introduction, let’s join in with the enthusiasm from South Korea. Because they are proud and very honest, with this EV9 that, in addition to a striking exterior and interior design, is also equipped with an overload of technology, you can applaud yourself. It is a large SUV (somewhere around 5 meters) that will mainly compete with the top of the market, normally reserved for popular German car brands. Making a statement in that segment of the market is not easy, but Kia seems to be going for it.

Other new brands from Asia are now also coming onto the market with large modern electric cars, but are currently missing Kia’s success story. It is not self-evident that the new Kia EV9 will also be a hit, but it is expected that the reputation that has now been built up in this market segment will certainly provide a boost.

EV9 redefines the standards in exterior and interior design, connectivity, practicality and sustainability, offering the driver and passengers a refreshing and high-quality alternative with new possibilities and plenty of comfort through innovative use of space, technology and design .

EV9 design language lays foundation for future electric SUVs

The design of the EV9 is the result of Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design language. This is characterized in which angular shapes merge with clean lines. In addition, Kia has a design vision that combines natural and material elements. Both played an important role in the creation of the exterior. The result is a robust and angular-looking SUV. All this should also be the basis for the design of Kia’s future electric SUVs.

Technology for Life

Under the title ‘Technology for Life’, the EV9 contains a large number of technologies and innovations that support the interaction between the driver (and occupants) and the EV9. What exactly that will entail will remain a mystery until the world premiere at the end of this month.

The new Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) ensures a long wheelbase and a completely flat floor. This combination provides a lot of space with comfort for all three rows of seats. The EV9 will be available in a six- or seven-person configuration. The seats in the first and second row can be reclined during charging. The second row seats swivel 180 degrees and the third row seats have cup holders and charging points for mobile devices.

The floating panoramic dashboard extends from the steering wheel to the center console. Furthermore, the EV9 will have two 12.3 inch screens with an extra display for a digital experience and operation of most functions. We are curious.

World premiere at the end of March

The Kia EV9 will have its world premiere on March 28, 2023. Not only will all details of the new SUV be released on this day, but also the global campaign ‘Here to reshape the way we move.’
