Jordan: 'Verstappen would still beat Hamilton, Leclerc and Alonso in equal cars'

Eddie Jordan thinks Max Verstappen would still beat Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc and Fernando Alonso in equal cars. The former team boss thinks that the Red Bull Racing driver is currently overflowing with confidence and can only get better. Jordan therefore thinks that the combination of Verstappen and the Red Bull team could remain almost unbeatable. The Brit thinks that Leclerc has not yet managed to find such a combination at Ferrari.

Red Bull currently has a very fast car, but what would happen if all cars had the same performance? “At the moment I would say that Verstappen would still win if Hamilton, Leclerc, Alonso and himself were in equal cars,” Jordan is quoted by Express.co.uk. “Verstappen has a new inner confidence and will continue to improve.” Up to and including 2028, the competition must fear for the Dutchman. “Formula 1 drivers must understand that the collaboration between Verstappen and Red Bull will be formidable in the coming years.”

However, the reigning world champion will not look at other teams anytime soon. Verstappen is not stupid and will not try to drive for another team, especially with his father and management team behind him. Anyone who hopes that Verstappen will soon leave Red Bull is dreaming.’ However, Jordan also knows what the rest of the top would look like if everyone rode the same machines. “I would then say Hamilton would be second in an equal car, with Alonso and Leclerc battling for third.”

Jordan: “If Leclerc went to a smaller team, you would see fireworks from him”

Verstappen and Leclerc are part of the new generation of Formula 1 drivers. Where the Red Bull driver has already achieved great success, Leclerc still has to wait for his real breakthrough. That may only come when the Monegask leaves for another team. “We haven’t seen enough of Leclerc to say otherwise, but the pressure of driving for Ferrari is huge. If Leclerc went to a smaller team like Mercedes, you would see fireworks from him,” said Jordan.
