Katja Schuurman recently gave an interview about her ex-husband Thijs Römer. In the article she stands up for the actor, who has been discredited due to his sexually explicit contact with underage girls. Katja believes that Thijs did the right thing in withdrawing his appeal and advocates that he be rehabilitated. She hints that he should just be able to go back to work as an actor.
That doesn’t sit well with Jan Roos; In Nieuwe Revu he rages against Katja: “As long as someone is innocent because the judge has not yet spoken, I think it is right as a neighbor to continue to support that person. But in this case it concerns a convicted bastard. He abused very young girls in text and images. If Katja thinks that this is defensible while the daughter she has with him is in the same age category, then we can say that she is not in her right mind.”
