Job offer

Do you like to dive into data to emerge with clear analyses? You get that opportunity at the North Sea Canal Area Environmental Service. We develop useful solutions with visible added value for a healthy, safe and sustainable living environment with maximum effect for society. And we can use your expertise and enthusiasm as an Information Analyst for this.

In a world in which data is playing an increasingly important role, it is also important for the North Sea Canal Area Environmental Service to provide targeted analyzes to issues in the field of construction, soil and the environment. We are therefore making a switch to Data Driven Working via the DGW program.

The Information Analysis team plays an important role in this. They connect environmental issues to relevant and available data. So that we can view strategic and tactical choices from all sides. In the coming years, the amount of available data will continue to increase. The challenge for you is to use this selectively and purposefully, especially quantitatively.

View the challenge

The Amsterdam metropolitan region is a densely populated and dynamic region. Living and working have traditionally been strongly linked, space is scarce and the environmental pressure is high. At the North Sea Canal Area Environmental Service (OD NZKG) we regulate these developments, which have an impact on the quality of the living environment.

We employ approximately 600 enthusiastic colleagues in licensing, supervision and enforcement in the field of soil, construction and the environment. We do this on behalf of the eight municipalities in our work area and three provinces. Boring? Certainly not! We influence sustainability, energy savings, air quality, safety and quality of life.

How you contribute

As an Information Analyst you view data from all sides. You contribute to the tasks of our environmental service by looking for connections, clarifying them and advising on them. Consider, for example: how can you map the nuisance caused by a company so that we can properly inform citizens and policymakers?

How can you beautifully visualize the impact of emissions? And can you use data to find and prioritize the possible causes of environmental violations?

You then know how to sell the results of your analyzes well, both within and outside the organization. You enjoy using slick presentations. Your research results serve to support, guide and justify the activities of the environmental service. They also provide input for implementation and priorities within the Expertise, Regulation and T&H teams.

With your view on data, one day you spar with an inspector who checks a large chemical company for unusual incidents and the next day with a colleague about sustainability to develop an energy dashboard. This is how data actually comes to life.

What are you bringing?

You have a great passion for data and data processing and a more than average interest in the environment and sustainability.

You are able to translate substantive issues into information issues.

In addition to operational analyses, you contribute to the development of the team towards predictive and explanatory analyzes (tactical analysis): that is what gives you satisfaction.

You are focused on collaboration and can make good connections, both internally and externally.

You have a curious and enterprising attitude, have a view of the big picture and also an eye for detail and you have an affinity with figures/data and know how to easily link these to various (policy) issues that arise for our clients and chain partners in the VTH domain.

We further ask:

  • You have at least HBO thinking and working level;
  • You have strong communication skills and good analytical and conceptual thinking skills;
  • You work meticulously, are results-oriented, eager to learn and pragmatic and get energy from innovations;
  • Knowledge of and preferably experience with working according to Scrum;
  • Advantage: Knowledge and experience with SQL, R and Python;
  • Advantage: Knowledge and experience with Machine Learning;
  • You have a view of the big picture and also an eye for detail.

What we offer

In addition to challenging information issues, the NZKG Environmental Service is an organization that is in full swing. You will be part of a team with 10 colleagues who share creativity, enthusiasm and curiosity. We are constantly looking for smart and new methods to provide insight with data. Our team is still developing.

Within this team you will have all the freedom to think along!

Our central meeting place is the office in Zaandam, right next to the train station, but we work hybrid. Wherever you work, we provide the equipment and facilities to do your job properly.

We also offer you an excellent salary, which depends on your education and experience. In any case, you can count on a minimum of €3,385.60 and a maximum of €4,778.94 gross per month (scale 10) for a 36-hour working week.

We also offer you plenty of development opportunities and an attractive employment conditions package.

This includes, among other things:

  • Full travel allowance per public transport.
  • An extensive tailor-made training program, tailored to your needs.
  • The OD school: a wide range of internal training courses, from dealing with aggression to working efficiently from home.
  • your own training budget of €5,000 per five years. This allows you to determine which training you follow, regardless of the OD school and the induction program.
  • A contribution to the gym.

Add to this an Individual Choice Budget or IKB of no less than 22.37%!
