Next week, Opsporing Verzocht will show images of a man who shot at two men in Breda at the end of last year. Bullets from his weapon also flew through the windows of a gym where people were present at the time.

The two men had worked out on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, 2022, at Hemmers gym on Druivenstraat in Breda. When they then got into the car in front of the gym, around 1.40 pm, they were suddenly shot several times.
A number of bullets flew through the vehicle, but also some through the windows of the gym where visitors were present at the time. No one was injured.
The perpetrator immediately fled after the shooting and managed to escape. But he is on screen, the police reported in a message on Thursday. By showing the images in Opsporing Verzocht, the detective hopes to find out the identity of this shooter.
Improved
According to gym owner Nick Hemmers, the shooting was not aimed at the school or himself. He told the newspaper BN De Stem shortly after the attack: ‘We have been working hard for forty years, we are a great family business and since we have been established here, the neighborhood has improved because we are open every day. Nothing bad has ever happened to us. I really don’t understand it at all.’
According to a witness the newspaper spoke to, who was working in an adjacent building, a black car drove away at the time of the shots. There were four people in the car with Polish license plate. Several bullets hit the vehicle. According to the witness, the holes could still be seen in a window and near the fuel cap. This is also evident from photos by press photographers that were published after the attack.

Investigations shortly after the event showed that the shooter may have been posting near the place where the shots were fired for a long time. The police reported this. It concerns a (young) man with a dark skin color. He wore gray sweatpants with striking black zippers, a dark blue jacket, a black hoodie and a light-colored cap. He is said to have fled through a nearby industrial estate after the shooting.
