Rotterdam – Just before 11 a.m., a loud bang sounded in the Bloemhof district near a four-storey apartment building. An explosive had gone off on the third floor at the front door of a house. The resident was taken to hospital for a check-up. Furthermore, no one was injured.
The damage was enormous; Windows on three floors were smashed out of the houses. In connection with the damage, three houses were evacuated and six other houses because it was no longer safe to stay there.
The residents have arranged their own accommodation. A little further in the Salviahof, the police found three more pipe bombs, metal tubes that are used as explosives. The pipe bombs were detonated by the EOD in a safe location. The police started an investigation. No arrests have yet been made. A team of detectives is currently working on the many explosions.
