During a debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, it once again became clear how broad support for Ukraine is. ‘But that comes with a price tag,’ says political reporter Leendert Beekman.

All parties in the House of Representatives are in favor of continued support for Ukraine, with the exception of PVV, FvD and Groep Van Haga. This concerns both material support in the form of weapons and financial support. And the House of Representatives is releasing quite a bit of budget for that: 2.5 billion euros this year.

According to Beekman, there are also concerns in the House of Representatives. Mainly about the fact that Europe is so dependent on US support when it comes to Ukraine. And the election isn’t even that far away. A different US policy towards Ukraine could completely change the dynamic.”

The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Cooleba, also visited the House of Representatives yesterday evening. He then flew with the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Wopke Hoekstra on the Dutch government plane to New York, where Hoekstra addressed the UN Security Council. They fly back together on Friday.
