Hole in ceiling after explosion at porch house in Amsterdam West

A serious explosion occurred at a porch house on Blancefloorstraat in Amsterdam-West on Thursday evening. This caused a lot of damage. The ceiling, among other things, partly came down. No one was injured.

Around 7.15 pm a report was received of a loud bang in the Blancefloorstraat in the Bos en Lommer district, which also triggered a fire alarm. On site, the fire brigade and police officers discovered damage in the stairwell. The pressure of the explosion blew a hole in the stairwell, partially causing the ceiling of the floor below to collapse. The walls and front door were also damaged. No fire broke out. No one was injured either.

The Explosives Safety Team Leader (TEV) and Forensic Investigation specialists conducted an investigation on site.

No arrests have been made. The police are investigating and are looking for witnesses and images, or people who have information about a possible reason for the explosion.
