Woerden – An operating cannabis nursery was found in a house on Elzenlaan in Woerden on Wednesday, May 8. After a report from the housing association, the police investigated; with results.

An operating cannabis nursery with a total of 403 plants was found in the house around 10:00 am. Electricity was being tapped illegally.

The cannabis farm has been dismantled. All confiscated plants and growing supplies have been destroyed. No suspects have been arrested yet. The municipality and the housing association were included in the results of the find.

Hemp is not innocent
Hemp cultivation is not innocent. Behind cannabis cultivation lies a world of organized, subversive crime. Nurseries also pose major risks to the environment, such as fire hazard. Socially vulnerable people are tempted to make quick money through cannabis cultivation. And once you enter this criminal world, you don’t get out easily. By tackling hemp cultivation, we also prevent new drug criminals.

Tackling hemp cultivation prevents new drug criminals
Profits from hemp are also often used to invest in the trade of other, more lucrative drugs such as cocaine. Tackling hemp cultivation therefore also has a direct effect on the fight against other drug crime. But we do not tackle hemp alone, we do so in collaboration with many partners, of which the municipality is a very important one.
