Wijdenes – The police discovered a cannabis nursery in the shed of a house on Blokdijk in Wijdenes on Thursday, February 1, 2024 around 4 p.m. More than 300 hemp plants were found in the shed.
The police discovered the cannabis farm after an anonymous tip. In addition to the cannabis plants, the police also found equipment for growing the plants in the shed. Both the hemp plants and equipment have been seized and will be destroyed.
No one was present when the cannabis farm was found. The police will talk to the owner of the building at a later date.
Electricity was tapped illegally in the home. The power company removed the meter and stopped the power supply. Illegal tapping of electricity is often the case at cannabis farms and this entails a number of risks for local residents. For example, a short circuit or overheating can cause a fire. It is therefore important that you report suspicions of a cannabis farm. Do you smell a strong hemp odor in your area? Do you experience a constant buzzing or whirring sound from an air extractor? Then you may well be dealing with a cannabis farm.
