Hemp nursery discovered in Wervershoof

Wervershoof – The police discovered a cannabis farm in a house on Zeeweg in Wervershoof on Thursday, March 28, 2024 around 2:30 PM. More than 150 cannabis plants were found in the home.

In addition to the cannabis plants, the police also found equipment for growing the plants in the house. Both the hemp plants and equipment have been seized and will be destroyed.

When the cannabis farm was discovered, a 33-year-old man from the municipality of Medemblik was present in the house. He has been arrested and his role is being further investigated.

Risks

Electricity was tapped illegally in the home. The power company removed the meter and stopped the power supply. Illegal tapping of electricity is often the case at cannabis farms and this entails a number of risks for local residents. For example, a short circuit or overheating can cause a fire. It is therefore important that you report suspicions of a cannabis farm. Do you smell a strong hemp odor in your area? Do you experience a constant buzzing or whirring sound from an air extractor? Then you may well be dealing with a cannabis farm.
