Etten-Leur – A 61-year-old motorist from Monster was arrested twice last night for driving under the influence. A friend who took him from the police station to his car also drank too much and also received a report.

An officer saw a car driving along Bisschopsmolenstraat on Monday, March 11, 2024, around 1:10 am. The police officer saw that the driver suddenly increased his speed and ended up on the sidewalk while taking a bend. The driver parked his car on the Dreef. The officer decided to check the motorist because of his traffic behavior. The man was slurring his speech and was unsteady on his feet. He admitted to drinking alcohol. He subsequently refused the alcohol test and became very recalcitrant. He was arrested for this. At the station he also refused to cooperate with a breath test or blood test. His driver’s license was subsequently confiscated. He was also banned from driving, with the officer emphatically stating that if he were to drive, an arrest would follow.

Friend
The suspect was picked up at the station by a friend, who took him straight to Dreef, where the 61-year-old man got into his car and drove away. After this he was arrested again. This time he did cooperate with the breath analysis. He blew 540 ugl. The friend, a 57-year-old man from Etten-Leur, also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He said he drank five glasses of wine and a glass of whisky. He had driven anyway to help his friend out.
