The police found a hand grenade in front of a coffee shop on Stratumsedijk in Eindhoven on Friday morning around 8:30 am. Experts from the Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) determined that it was a real explosive.
When opening the shutter of the New Wave coffee shop, a bullet impact was discovered in the facade. Further investigation into this is also being conducted by the police and forensic investigation.
The crime scene was cordoned off. People who were working in the area left the place because they thought it was too dangerous. A nearby hostel was evacuated.
Further investigation by the EOD into the possible explosive showed that it was a real hand grenade. This has been seized for further investigation.
