The police said on Tuesday they arrested a 49-year-old man from The Hague on suspicion of murder or manslaughter in the death of a previously missing man in Suriname. Rishi Parmesar disappeared in Suriname in 2022. On December 18, 2022, the family reported her missing. Parmesar lived in Hoofddorp.

The missing Parmesar should have returned to the Netherlands from Suriname on December 18, 2022.
The police now have indications that Parmesar was killed on his own property in Lelydorp, south of Paramaribo. He was last seen there on Sunday, December 18, 2022.
The investigation involved extensive cooperation with the Surinamese authorities.
Three suspects
The suspect will appear before the examining magistrate on Friday.
There are now three suspects in the case. One other person is still in custody in Suriname. A third is still a suspect, but is no longer in custody.
Based on the investigation results, the Public Prosecution Service of Suriname has found reason to declare the missing Parmesar dead.
