After the game SC Cambuur against sc Heerenveen in Leeuwarden, the police arrested eight people. According to the police, the atmosphere after the match between the two football clubs was grim and there was a lot of destruction around the stadium.
Supporters of both football clubs sought confrontation after the game won by Heerenveen. They pelted each other with stones, pieces of wood, dumpsters and pieces of concrete.
The mobile unit acted to ensure that the buses of the Heerenveen fans could leave safely. However, a window of one of the buses was broken.
Police horse injured
Even after the departure of the buses, there was still unrest, according to the police. Officers were pelted with stones. Several police vehicles were destroyed and a police horse was injured by a stone.
The arrested men are between 17 and 39 years old and come from Leeuwarden, Sneek, Gytsjerk, Wergea, Goutum and the municipality of Heerenveen. Four of them are in prison for public violence, such as throwing stones.
Three others were arrested for wearing face coverings. Someone refused to comply with a police order or demand.
