Great Britain GP extends contract and will also be on the F1 calendar for the next ten years

The Silverstone circuit will also be on the Formula 1 calendar for the next ten years. George Russell and Lando Norris have already celebrated this together in a video on social media. The British Grand Prix is one of the oldest races on the premier class of motorsport calendar and Silverstone will therefore organize Grands Prix until 2034.

The Silverstone circuit has been one of the most popular circuits on the Formula 1 calendar for years. After all, it is also the home race of a large number of the drivers on the grid and also of most Formula 1 teams. The circuit announces the contract extension with the sport on social media. The circuit asked Mercedes driver Russell and McLaren driver Norris to put on their best acting skills to make the announcement.

Silverstone is not the first circuit to sign a long-term commitment with Formula 1 this year. Last week it became clear that the Japanese Grand Prix will still be held at the Suzuka circuit for the next five years. Earlier in the year it was announced that the Madrid Grand Prix will be held on a street circuit in the Spanish capital from 2026. The circuit, which still needs to be partly constructed, also signed a ten-year deal.

Hamilton the most successful driver at Silverstone

The Grand Prix of Great Britain, because it has been on the calendar every year since 1950, has had several winners. However, it is no big surprise that home hero Lewis Hamilton managed to book the most victories at the Silverstone circuit with eight victories. Jim Clark, who also achieved victories at Brands Hatch and Aintree, and Alain Prost follow with five victories. Max Verstappen managed to win the British Grand Prix once, although he also won the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone in 2020.
