Google has planned a major event on Thursday to most likely announce the new Pixel phone, earbuds and watch. However, it couldn’t wait to show the new Nest Wifi Pro router. The new router has WiFi 6e and should give your home a stronger connection with coverage up to 120 m2.

WiFi 6e is up to two times faster than WiFi 6 and is intended to give your home an even stronger connection, even in less easily accessible places. You can also use multiple routers to achieve a greater range. It is possible to use Nest Wifi Pro in combination with your current WiFi modem and the router also offers secure boot to prevent unauthorized software and hacks. The router is capable of discovering network problems on its own.
The striking thing about this announcement is that Google gives as one of the options with this router that Auto-QoS is available for video calls and Stadia games. Remarkable, because it has just indicated that Stadia will stop and that you can still play until mid-January 2023. Now that is still a few months, but it seems a bit strange to give that so clearly as an advantage of the router.
Nest Wifi Pro
More logical is the message that you can use the new Nest Wifi Pro with products that support Matter. This is the new smart home standard that Google, Apple, Amazon and other major technology companies are working on. It should ensure that you can still use more different brands of smart home gadgets in combination. Google promises AXE4200: combined speeds of up to 4.2 Gbps and 2×2 (6/5/2.4 GHz). There are two Ethernet ports on each router.
Nest Wifi Pro is available from 219.99 euros for two pieces. The router comes in one color: snow (white). The height is 13 centimeters, the width 11.7 centimeters and the depth 8.5 centimeters, with a fairly modern design that will fit in most households. Good to know: Nest Wifi Pro (Wifi 6E) cannot be used in a mesh network with previous generation Nest Wifi or Google Wifi routers.
Home app
In addition, Google has announced that the Home app will be changed. A new design has been introduced. The Home app is Google’s smart home app, which is often used to set up routines, a kind of chain reactions between different smart home devices. Google Assistant also does a lot with the Home app. Google thinks that people have more and more smart home gadgets at home and wants to make the app more clear. You can now also put your favorite gadgets at the top, so that you can, for example, find a light that you often switch on and off manually.
