We hear bad news about Geert Hoes. The former Good Times, Bad Times actor has been in hospital for more than two and a half months, he said in an extensive and emotional post on Facebook.

Geert is seriously ill and has lost almost 35 kilos, he says emotionally. Geert appears to have contracted a very rare bacteria. He also has a parasite in his body. The former actor writes about this:

“For some doctors a true “jackpot”, because they had never seen this bacterium in their long career, but had read about it in a study, a nightmare for me personally. It is not yet fully known whether this bacterium simply wants to “house” in my body, or whether it also causes the necessary complaints that are worse at one moment and at another. As if that bacteria weren’t enough, after long cultures and biopsies a parasite was also found, a parasite that apparently can only be present in distant tropical places…what it has to do in my body in our cold little country remains a mystery. another mystery. A parasite that literally eats you from the inside. From the beginning I also told the doctors that it felt like I was being eaten from the inside, like bugs were crawling under my skin, through my body and through my head, causing inflammation after inflammation in many places in my body …a strange and very painful feeling.”

Geert also writes that his treatment will take a long time: “Unfortunately, the treatment process will take a while, the medication sometimes makes me a bit sicker due to the side effects, in and out of hospital, this afternoon we can I did another round of Leiden Hospital and had my first round of treatment, hopefully the values are better and according to the doctors’ wishes… a process has been started, whereby hopefully with this treatment we can look up a bit again.”
