He was born in Bussum, but the family emigrated to the United States when he was three years old, settling in Albany, the capital of the state of New York. He grew up there and turned out to have singing talent: he performed in two musicals.
In 1963 this sympathetic vocalist visited relatives in the Netherlands. This brought him into contact with Willem Duys, who then invited him to perform in his program Voor de fist weg, a TV program that was watched by millions of Dutch people; the singer stood out! He therefore decided to return to the Netherlands for good in 1964.
The rest is history: this singer is now 77 years old and recently celebrated his silver wedding anniversary with his partner Jan. We are, of course, talking about Ronnie Tober! With all his experience and collaborations with countless well-known Dutch artists, Ronnie is one of the most imaginative active artists of the old guard in the current entertainment world!
