Fred van Leer is proud to announce his latest ‘Friend’ for Fred & Friends in Rotterdam Ahoy on 22 & 23 September. Ruth Jacott has been an integral part of the Dutch music industry for many years now. With hits such as Hartslag, Vrede, Leun Op Mij, Ik Ga Door and Stay Bij Mij, she has sung herself right into the hearts of the Netherlands.
Fred: “For me, Ruth is the definition of grand dame. When it became known that a second edition of Fred & Friends was coming, I knew ‘Ruth Jacott’ had to be included! The fact that she is actually there now is the icing on the cake for me”.
Just like last edition, Fred & Friends will be a wonderful, hysterical evening full of crazy live performances, dance, spectacle, bells and whistles. It was previously announced that Diggy Dex, Edsilia Romblet, Nyassa Alberta, Jopie Parlevliet, Envy Peru and Mart Hoogkamer, among others, will make their appearance. More artists will be announced in the near future.
In 1993 Ruth represents the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in Ireland. With the song Vrede she takes sixth place. Her debut album Ruth Jacott was released shortly afterwards and in the same year she scored a big hit with Stay Bij Mij, a duet with Paul de Leeuw. Many albums follow and reach gold, platinum and double platinum status.
In 1995 Ruth Jacott does her first theater tour, after which many more tours follow.
In the following years, Ruth releases many successful albums and singles, does major shows and theater tours, sings the title track of the film Kruimeltje (1999), plays Vals Verlangen live in Carré (2000) and records an album together with the Metropole orchestra. for which they received the Edison Audience Award.
In 2019, in the run-up to the brand new theater tour Ruth Live, the single De Jaren Gaan Voorbij will be released. After not releasing new music for five years, this is being welcomed with open arms by fans and the media. In Ruth Live, Ruth plays three brand new, different songs that have appeared on an EP of the same name.
