Customs arrested four collectors in the port of Rotterdam on Thursday night. It concerns three men aged 21 and a 20-year-old man. They come from Rotterdam and Vlaardingen.

The four men were arrested after being seen at a terminal on the Maasvlakte. They have been handed over to the Seaport Police for further investigation.

Last year, 241 ejectors of drugs were removed from port areas. In 2021 there were 400. The Public Prosecution Service thinks that this decrease is due to the new eviction law, which took effect on January 1, 2022.

With the new law, it is possible that unauthorized presence at ports and airports can be punished more severely. Whoever is caught without that person being able to prove that he has something to do with it, can be sentenced to a maximum of one to two years in prison in addition to a fine of 95 euros.
