Four explosions took place in residential areas in Amsterdam in a short period of time. The first three were in Amsterdam-Noord last night, on Zeeburgereiland and IJburg, the fourth last night in the Bijlmermeer. Shortly after the last explosion, a 20-year-old man was arrested.
As far as we know, no one was injured in the explosions. Several buildings were damaged.
Around 8:15 p.m., the police received the first report of an explosion at a porch door on Eef Kamerbeekstraat. Witnesses reportedly heard a loud bang. According to local broadcaster AT5, several local residents saw two young men fleeing on a fat bike. The two are said to have been wearing balaclavas when they fled.

The police were alerted again an hour later due to an explosion on the Vijgepeerpad in Noord. Witnesses also heard a loud bang there. The third explosion happened just after 11 p.m. on Galjootstraat in IJburg.
Around 4:30 am there was a new explosion on the Egoli in the Bijlmer. Shortly afterwards, the police arrested a 20-year-old Amsterdam resident nearby. His involvement is under investigation. The police are also investigating whether there is a connection between the four explosions.
