The police have arrested a total of four people after a stabbing last night at the limestone quarry in Maastricht. According to the police, two groups had agreed to fight there because of a conflict.
Some 20 to 25 people are said to have been involved in the fight. Six people suffered stab wounds. Five of them had to be taken to hospital. They are now back home. It is not clear what the conflict was about. The police are still investigating.
Three arrests were reported yesterday. It concerns three men aged 18, 19 and 20 from Maastricht. One of the detainees was himself injured. A 17-year-old boy from Breda was arrested for insulting and obstructing police officers.
Emergency services were on the scene with many people. At least ten police cars, ambulances and an air ambulance came to the scene of the stabbing. The nature reserve at the ENCI quarry is a popular hiking spot. Police are still looking for witnesses.
