Zoetermeer/Benthuizen – In a drug trafficking investigation, eleven homes in Zoetermeer and Benthuizen were searched on Wednesday, June 7. Five suspects have been arrested.

After an anonymous tip via Meld Misdaad Anoniem, the police launched an investigation into the narcotics trade. A network that was involved in selling drugs to minors came into the picture. As a result, eleven homes were searched in Zoetermeer and Benthuizen on Wednesday morning.

Five suspects were arrested during the searches of the homes. These are men from Zoetermeer aged 18, 26, 27 and two aged 29. They are suspected of drug trafficking and participation in a criminal organization. One of the men is also suspected of money laundering. Drugs, firearms, money and means of transport were seized during the searches.

The investigation is ongoing and the suspects are being questioned. We also talk to underage buyers and their parents. If necessary, the customers are referred to the appropriate authorities.

Subversion

Drug trafficking is a common form of subversion. The perpetrators are regularly drawn into the criminal path, which they then find difficult to get off. Drug trafficking can lead to harassment and extortion. Another consequence is that vulnerable neighborhoods become even more vulnerable because criminals rule the roost.
