Fairground security guard injured after assault

The Hague – A security guard was assaulted at the fair on the Malieveld on Wednesday evening, April 10. The security guard was injured. A 24-year-old suspect has been arrested.

The assault took place at the entrance to the fair around 9:50 p.m. A man had to be searched when entering the fair because the detection gates went off. He refused and then walked onto the fairgrounds.

Security stopped the man and directed him to the exit. The man refused to leave the fairgrounds, after which a struggle ensued between him and security. The man grabbed one of the security guards with a neck clamp. The security guard suffered serious injuries.

The suspect has been arrested. It concerns a 24-year-old man from Amsterdam. In addition, he has been banned from attending a fair.


Fortunately, the quick action of other security personnel prevented more serious incidents. The incident has had a huge impact on the victim. The suspect will be arraigned on Friday, April 12. The man is suspected of attempted manslaughter or attempted serious assault.
