Nuland – An explosive device was found on Monday near homes on the Zomerdijk in Nuland. A passerby was walking by with his dog and discovered a suspicious package in the bushes near a number of homes.
Around 12:30 a passerby reported to the police that there was a suspicious package. The alarmed colleagues went to the scene and initially called in an explosives specialist, the Explosives Safety Team Leader (TEV) of the police. The TEV specialist is deployed to guarantee the safety of colleagues and citizens.
EOD
Ultimately, the police specialist called in the Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). This examined the possible explosive up close in a safe manner. This showed that it was actually a self-made explosive. Three houses in the area have been evacuated and their residents have been taken into shelter. The explosive was detonated at a designated location later this day.
