Explosive found at home

Valkenswaard – An explosive was found in the front garden of a house on the Kreijenbeek in Valkenswaard on Wednesday morning.

Around 9.45 am, the resident reported that there was a suspicious object in his front yard. The alarmed colleagues initially called in an explosives specialist from the police and a wide radius around the house was cordoned off. Residents within that radius were not removed from their homes, but were told to stay indoors.

EOD

Finally, the police specialist called in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD). He has examined the possible explosive in a safe way up close. It turned out that it was actually a self-manufactured explosive. This was rendered harmless by the EOD on site and after a technical investigation on site, the street was fully released again around 1.45 p.m.
