Amsterdam – In the evening of Wednesday, February 22, 2023, an explosive device goes off in a portico on the Oude-IJselstraat. The portico is badly damaged. No one was hurt.
At around 10:35 p.m., local residents were startled by a loud bang. An explosive device appears to have gone off in a portico. In this portico there are several doors that give access to homes. The windows above these doors and the ceiling of this portico are seriously damaged. Fortunately no one is injured. After the explosion, one suspect, dressed in dark, ran away through Berkelstraat in the direction of Van Woustraat. This person is suspected of having detonated the explosive.
Immediately after the explosion, an investigation was started by the criminal investigation department, an Explosives Safety Team Leader, members of Forensic Investigation and the Defense Explosives Clearance Service. Investigators are looking for witnesses and possible images. Naturally, the detective is urgently looking for information about the circumstances of this incident.

An explosion also occurred here on 7 January 2023 at around 9:40 PM. The detective is investigating a possible connection between these two cases.
