‘Explanation for punch Berghuis: racist text towards Brobbey’

Steven Berghuis dealt a blow to a supporter on Sunday afternoon after Ajax’s lost match at FC Twente (3-1). TC/Tubantia knows the reason: Brian Brobbey was treated racist.

Things got out of hand at the Ajax players’ bus: Brobbey was called ‘cancer black’, a witness told TC/Tubantia. Berghuis stood up for his 21-year-old teammate and got a story from the bystander, who then received a blow from the Ajax player. The Twente supporter cannot be seen on the images.

An Ajax security guard accompanied Berghuis, who shouted a few things to the shouter, back to the bus. Ajax lost 3-1 in Enschede, making second place and the accompanying Champions League ticket unattainable. PSV also beat AZ (1-2). Berghuis was trained at FC Twente and came on for Owen Wijndal after 72 minutes in Enschede.
