Engineer IT – IT job vacancy in Netherlands

Communication via the internet has become indispensable. Not on land, but not at sea either. Our partner ensures that they connect their customers’ offshore assets with the rest of the world via an internet connection. They therefore operate worldwide and are specialized in supplying cyber security communication systems to the shipping industry. They do this both physically at the location of the ships and from an office located in Middelburg. The focus is on easy-to-manage solutions with global coverage. Due to growth, there is room for a new IT Service Engineer, who visits the ships for service and supports colleagues in the office. Installing and commissioning the hardware according to the project specifications is one of your responsibilities. You will also train the ship’s crew on location for the use of IT-related equipment. Because this is a service position, it is important that you do not mind being away from home for several days. You will be on the road and with customers on a regular basis. Once you have settled in, you can set off independently. Independence and being able to handle responsibility is therefore important. Due to the international aspect of the position, mastering the English language is essential. You are not allowed to drive your service van without a driving license and therefore a driving license B is required. Knowledge of MS-Server (2008 to 2022), MS-AD, DNS, DHCP services and networking/cybersecurity is a plus. Below you will find some other important points

You climb aboard the ships to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of the technical systems, so that they work optimally for the users in line with the agreed specifications. If you are not on the road, you help your colleagues in the office with solving IT and VSAT problems. The daily interaction is with the ship’s crew, colleagues, customers, partner engineers and various SatCom and IT equipment. Prepare projects in consultation with the team and arrange delivery of the necessary equipment; Installation preparation and/or configuration; maintenance, support and repair of IT equipment; Prepare service reports for each project according to applicable standards. Our partner’s head office is located in Middelburg, where there is a relaxed working atmosphere. Currently 4 to 5 people work there. The office has a view over the Ame Canal. You work in an informal working environment where there is a healthy balance between hard work and fun. You participate in the 24/7 support schedule. This rotates between employees every week and rewards a gross compensation of €150 per weekly shift worked. They work with a bonus structure based on performance and you receive a company telephone + laptop. There are opportunities to obtain internationally recognized certifications.
