Emma Kok and Isa Hoes on Story Day in the run-up to National Children’s Remembrance Day

Young and old tell war stories on April 9 in Madurodam

Singer Emma Kok (16 years old), writer/actress Isa Hoes and pianist Christian Gillissen (13 years old) will perform during the Story Day on Tuesday, April 9 in Madurodam. During Story Day, children discuss war and oppression with the last eyewitnesses who experienced the Second World War themselves. During the Story Day, Emma Kok will sing her own song ‘Stranger’ and the song ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon, which fits the message that freedom cannot be taken for granted.

The musical performance is accompanied on the piano by Christian Gillissen (13 years old). Christian Gillissen, pianist and composer, will also open the Story Day with a classical solo from ‘Etude No.12 Op.10, F. Chopin’. On the Story Day, Isa Hoes will tell her family story about the suffering of her Jewish parents that they were not spared. In addition to the performance of Emma Kok, Christian Gillissen and the story of Isa Hoes, nine eyewitnesses of the Second World War and four veterans share their personal (family) history with more than 380 students from primary schools from all over the country.
