‘Eldest son Taghi arrested in Dubai’

Police in Dubai have arrested Faissal Taghi, Ridouan Taghi’s eldest son. ‘Sources close to the investigation’ confirmed this to De Telegraaf. 22-year-old Faissal Taghi was reportedly arrested at the beginning of August.

The arrest took place at the request of the Netherlands. Faissal Taghi is suspected by the police and the Public Prosecution Service of continuing his father’s criminal activities from Dubai.

Italian mafia boss

The Dutch investigative services had been discussing this with the police in Dubai for several years. These talks started after, according to justice in Italy, it emerged that the Italian mafia boss Raffaele Imperiale had 2.5 euros in cash delivered by truck to Taghi’s eldest son in 2021. Imperiale and Taghi’s eldest son are said to have chatted about the money transport.

The Public Prosecution Service in the Netherlands informed De Telegraaf in a response that it did not wish to confirm the arrest. It is unclear whether Faissal Taghi is still in custody and whether he will be extradited to the Netherlands.
