The court in Turnhout on Friday confirmed the arrest of nine suspects in an investigation into the import of almost four tons of cocaine. The tenth arrest was postponed. One of the nine suspects is free with an ankle bracelet. Among the suspects are two Dutchmen aged 27 and 46.

The police in Turnhout and Kempen Noord-Oost arrested ten suspects on Tuesday evening in an investigation into the import of a batch of cocaine estimated at almost four tons.
Dutch license plates
Around 22.00 there was a report of a suspicious situation on the Steenweg on Ravels with the Kanaaldijk on the border of Oud-Turnhout and Ravels. There was talk of various cars with Dutch number plates driving back and forth.
Drug offenses
A patrol then checked a car in which two Dutchmen aged 27 and 46 were sitting. They had no logical explanation for their presence and after an initial check, it turned out that they had previously been associated with drug-related facts in the Netherlands. In the meantime, the police in North-East Kempen had also arrested a 39-year-old man who had turned around on Steenweg on Ravels when he saw the police.
68 bags of cocaine
The police in Turnhout discovered via the PGS app Waze that the Dutch had entered an address on the Kanaaldijk in Ravels. It turned out to be a warehouse that was for rent. When the warehouse was raided, seven men were arrested. In the hangar was a container in which bags were hidden. It turned out to be 68 bags of cocaine. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the exact amount will have to be determined, but it would be almost 4 tons.
Ankle band
Ten men were arrested and interrogated by the Federal Judicial Police (FGP) Antwerp. The council chamber in Turnhout confirmed the arrest of nine suspects on Friday. The tenth was postponed. One of the nine suspects is free with an ankle bracelet.
