During a special operation by the so-called Ports Combi Team, eight suspects were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of importing hundreds of kilos of cocaine, possession of weapons and non-official corruption. On Tuesday afternoon it was announced that several people had been arrested during a customs action on the Bolnesserkade in Rotterdam.
The arrested suspects are four Rotterdam residents aged 23, 27, 30 and 55, a 27-year-old Ridderkerker, a 33-year-old man from the municipality of Moerdijk and a 26-year-old man without a permanent place of residence. In addition, a 25-year-old woman from Rotterdam was arrested.
During house searches, in addition to data carriers, drugs and cash, various weapons were seized at various addresses.
The suspects are in full restraint. All eight suspects were brought before the examining magistrate today, who has determined that they will remain in jail for the next two weeks. Due to the ongoing investigation, the police will not provide any further information.
The Ports Combi Team, a partnership between the police, FIOD, National Criminal Investigation Department and the Public Prosecution Service, is further investigating the case. The team investigates serious forms of organized crime that affect the integrity and security of ports such as Rotterdam and Vlissingen.
