A Dutch man has been sentenced to 10.5 years in prison by a judge in England for smuggling dozens of kilos of cocaine. He was caught in Harwich, with suitcases containing the drugs.

Constipated

Rolf W. (41) had hidden the drugs in suitcases labeled Dior, to make it appear that he was transporting fashion in the trunk of his Renault Scenic. During a border control during the journey from Hoek van Holland to Harwich, he was discovered in England. Customs found 42 kilos of cocaine in the suitcases.

Tokens

On his mobile phone, the police found evidence of the use of ‘tokens’, or exchange coins. Drug criminals use these coins in transactions, for example to check the correct recipient of drugs or illegal money. The exchange coins often take the form of a banknote serial number and are sent as a receipt, the British National Crime Agency said in a press statement.

To travel

It turned out that W. had already made four trips to England in the past year, each time staying one night in a hotel. The man admitted to the English judge that he was involved in the import of hard drugs. This week he was sentenced by a judge to 10.5 years in prison.
