Last week, a Dutchman was arrested at Johan Adolf Pengel Airport in Suriname with 6.2 kilos of cocaine in his suitcase. According to Waterkant, the man was caught during an inspection just before he wanted to leave for the Netherlands.
The Dutchman stated that he had received the suitcase upon arrival at Zanderij airport from a man named “Dompoe”. He told the police that he did not know much about the supplier of the cocaine.
The drugs were seized by the Combating International Drugs Team (BID Team).
The suspect was taken into custody after being brought before the Surinamese Public Prosecution Service. The investigation into the case continues.
