The man was wanted on an arrest warrant from the court in Giessen. The arrest took place south of Frankfurt am Main, in Pfungstadt. Searches took place at various locations simultaneously.

Goldbach

The 27-year-old suspect is said to be a member of a criminal organization from the Netherlands and involved in several ATM explosions, including one in Goldbach (Aschaffenburg) on May 21, 2021. When the ATM in Goldbach was blown up, the suspect and two accomplices allegedly stole an amount of approximately 85,000 euros. The explosion caused approximately 100,000 euros in damage.

In another attempted explosion of an ATM on June 23, 2021 in Buseck (near Giessen), the police managed to arrest two suspects red-handed. The third suspect, who has now been arrested, was able to escape in a car.

The now arrested man is also suspected of failed explosive attacks in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia: ATMs in Essen on January 19, 2021 and in Nottuln (near Coesfeld) on June 4, 2021.

Spain

A special police team searched for the Dutchman in Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain.

The investigation ultimately showed that the man was probably in the border area of Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, and was possibly still involved in organizing explosions at ATMs.

Several hundreds of thousands of euros in cash, crypto wallets, several mobile phones, false identity documents, a fake driver’s license, an expensive wristwatch and expensive clothing were seized during the searches.
