Drug trafficker Piet W. (54) not released after all

Surinamese drug trafficker Piet W., who is suspected of two liquidations and involvement in large-scale cocaine trade, was not released on Thursday. He has since been arrested for money laundering in 2018, writes Het Parool.

W. was released on Wednesday by the Rotterdam court because there were insufficient indications to keep him in custody for longer. Before he could leave prison, he was arrested for money laundering in 2018.

W. is suspected of involvement in the liquidation of former professional football player Kelvin Maynard (32), who was shot dead on September 18, 2019 in Amsterdam Southeast.

400 kilos of coke

According to the Public Prosecution Service, he also ordered the liquidation of 23-year-old Genciël Feller, shot dead in Willemstad on Curaçao in September 2019. The motive is said to be a theft of 400 kilograms of cocaine in July 2019. W. was sentenced to seven years in prison in the Netherlands in 2014 for large-scale cocaine trafficking.

W. was arrested in October last year. Justice has provided evidence that the stolen batch of cocaine belonged to W. and also from other shipments.

W. has denied having had anything to do with the murders or the drug transports.
