Dozens of kilos of cocaine in the port of Vlissingen, two arrests

Dozens of kilos of cocaine were found and seized in the port of Vlissingen on Sunday afternoon. Two men aged 26 and 36 have been arrested as suspects. This is reported by the police.

A customs unit noticed a suspicious situation on Europaweg Noord around 03.30 on Saturday night. While the driver of a vehicle was checked, the co-driver took off. Burglary tools were found in the car.

Outstanding prison sentence

After a search, the co-driver was found and the two men were arrested without a fixed abode. The 36-year-old man also turned out to have a prison sentence of more than 200 days.

Container

Further investigation by customs and police showed that the men were probably planning to extract cocaine. On a harbor site on Finlandweg, the container was found on Sunday afternoon, which the two had probably targeted. Tens of kilos of cocaine were found to be hidden in the container.

The Customs Special Assistance Team is conducting further investigations into the drugs. The men have been detained and are being questioned by the police.
