Max Verstappen does not have the ambition to continue as team boss in the royal class after his Formula 1 career. The Dutchman previously stated that he does not yet know whether he still wants to remain active in Formula 1 after his current contract with Red Bull Racing, which runs until 2028. Verstappen does not necessarily like a role next to the track.
When asked whether Verstappen sees himself as a team boss or another role, the answer is resolute: “No, not in Formula 1,” he told CNN. The Red Bull driver has a clear explanation for this. ‘I also look at other disciplines, because I also like endurance races. Formula 1 is already a big part of my life. The problem is we travel so much and it’s getting more and more.’
Verstappen has achieved everything in Formula 1
The many trips have been making Verstappen think for some time. As in previous interviews, he again wonders aloud whether this is worth it. “I have less and less time for my family and friends because I want to chase more success. I have already achieved everything in Formula 1 that I wanted to achieve,” said Verstappen, referring to his two world titles. ‘That also makes it a bit easier to make these kinds of decisions.’
For example, Verstappen has already expressed the ambition to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. For the time being, that will not happen so quickly and he can simply be seen in Formula 1. “I know that I have a contract until 2028, then I will be 31. So I will still be quite young then,” the Limburger is realistic. ‘But like I said, I also want to do other things in life,’ he concludes.
