Last week, doctors responded with strong words to the poll question submitted by Medisch Contact: whether it would be a good idea if doctors had to pay part of the costs of their further education themselves. The negative qualifications tumbled over each other, from ‘offensive’, ‘ridiculous’, ‘bizarre’, ‘sickening’ and ‘madness’ to ‘absurd’, ‘anti-social’, ‘retarded’, ‘goofy’, ‘unfair’ and ‘idiot’. ‘. One doctor spoke in the poll of a ‘next step in specialist mistrust & bullying’, the other of ‘a ridiculous Maoist idea’.
