Amsterdam – On Sunday afternoon, February 26, a demonstration against housing policy took place on Dam Square, followed by a March against Vacancy towards Waterlooplein. This demonstration proceeded in an orderly manner until a group of demonstrators confronted the police.

Around 2.15 pm the march started in the direction of the Kalverstraat. During the march, the organization did not adhere to the agreement in the Wombrief whereby demonstrators were allowed to walk through Kalverstraat in groups of up to 400 people. The police then filled that gap by forming a lock so that the groups did not become too large. Subsequently, a number of demonstrators tried not to follow the instructions of the police officers, after which a confrontation took place. Officers were forced to use force.

Shortly afterwards, peace returned, after which the march proceeded in an orderly manner and ended at Waterlooplein. No suspects were arrested during the demonstration. The police look back with satisfaction on the atmosphere and the outcome of the demonstration.
