Dead man in Amstel, victim of crime


Amsterdam – On March 22, 2024, a deceased person was found in the water of the Amstel. It turns out to be a man (55 years old) who died as a result of a crime. The police have launched a major investigation to find out who is responsible for the man’s death. The help of the public is more than welcome.

The remains were found near the bridge at Sarphatistraat after a report at around 9:45 am. Investigation has shown that the man died as a result of a crime. The police have therefore started an extensive and large-scale investigation. The identity of the man has now become clear within that investigation. It concerns a man with Spanish nationality. The police are trying to trace his family through the Spanish authorities.

The deceased man had no fixed abode. He probably regularly stayed under the Toronto Bridge on the Weesperzijde. He had the following description:

  • 1.70 tall
  • Thin build
  • Dark-colored hair
  • White skin color
  • Beard
  • Black pants
  • T-shirt with crescent moon on it
  • Black vest

In any case, the man is up 4th of March seen yet.
