A man has died following a shooting on Sunday evening in a coffee shop on the Nieuwmarkt in the center of Amsterdam. The police have arrested a suspect.
The shooting took place at a quarter past ten on Sunday evening in the coffee shop on the Kloveniersburgwal. The victim was resuscitated shortly after the incident and taken to hospital by ambulance. He later died there from his injuries.
After the shooting, the police were looking for two men who allegedly fled in a car towards Dam Square. A police spokesperson said on Monday that one suspect had been arrested. The man was arrested in Germany.
Little is known about the circumstances of the shooting.
