Amsterdam – On the evening of November 4, 2023, around a quarter to ten, various places around Museumplein were vandalized. Two suspects have been arrested. The police are investigating this case and are calling on witnesses and victims to come forward.
That evening, the police received a report from the Rijksmuseum that orange/red liquid had been applied to the building. Immediately afterwards a report was received that two suspects had been arrested near the Van Gogh museum.
When the police are present at the museums, the Stedelijk Museum, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum appear to have been defaced. Several bystanders also came into contact with the liquid. Various declarants and witnesses are being heard.
The police are now conducting further investigation into the destruction and the circumstances. For example, witnesses and suspects are interviewed, the liquid is examined, camera images are viewed and reports are recorded. The Public Prosecution Service will then further investigate this case.
All colored liquid has now been removed by the municipality’s emergency department. The identity of the suspects was not yet known at the time of arrest.
If you were present at the time of the graffiti and did you see this incident and/or did you come into contact with the orange/red liquid, please contact the police.
