Data is an increasingly important source for the municipality to develop policy and to better serve the city’s residents. By making smart use of data, we can improve our processes and provide better services. The municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn is looking for a driven data analyst who wants to contribute to the data-driven work of our growing municipality.

The Information Management Team
The information management team consists of 25 employees and focuses on managing information. In addition, the team focuses on creating information through data management (BI). The team is part of the information provision of the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn, working closely with the other teams.

What are you going to do?
As a data analyst you are responsible for analyzing and interpreting developments, translating data into relevant information, and advising colleagues based on available internal and external data. You explore data and information questions, formulate solutions, and work together with data engineers to realize and access information. Key tasks include:

  • Understanding internal customer needs, staying informed of relevant developments and securing peripheral aspects in solutions.
  • You perform descriptive and diagnostic analyses, supervise the development of information products and proactively evaluate improvement initiatives.
  • You also support end users of dashboards and organize training and workshops.
  • You also contribute to improving data quality and make agreements with data suppliers and source holders.
  • You play a role in developing management information to support implementation.

There is already a good foundation. The municipality has a data warehouse at its disposal, which provides access to several sources and at the same time there is still a lot to be developed to which you will make an important contribution. In this challenging role you contribute to developing data-driven work and improving the availability and findability of information for both colleagues and our citizens.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a new colleague who wants to actively contribute to improving our services. You have good communication skills, work independently and are results-oriented.
You like to get to the bottom of questions and clearly record your findings in reports and advice. You are eager to learn and follow developments in the field of data-driven working.

You also recognize yourself in the following:

  • A demonstrable HBO/WO working and thinking level;
  • Demonstrable work experience of and with data processing, data quality and/or data modeling;
  • You enjoy managing different processes and are able to create a team around you;
  • You have experience with data quality, making it measurable and carrying out improvement processes for data quality.
