Scanned
Customs officers found packages of cocaine in the construction of a container after they scanned it and went through it with narcotics dogs. They were packed in a load of avocados.
In total, customs officers removed 130 packages from the container. According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), the drugs may have had to be removed from the container in a so-called ’empty depot’. This is a storage place for empty containers that are ready to be used in a new transport.
Smuggling
The container came from Peru and was transported to a company in Barendrecht. According to the judiciary, that company does not seem to have anything to do with the smuggling.
